As a product by Nelen & Schuurmans, Rana needed more than just technical power. It needed a name, a face, and a story that would resonate with a niche audience of water experts.

We defined everything from the ground up: target audience, positioning, and values. From this fresh strategy, we created the name Rana: short, strong, and meaningful within the world of water and data. Next, we built a complete brand identity, with a distinctive logo and a visual language that reflects the platform’s intelligent, specialised nature. We also developed essential brand tools, such as a PowerPoint template and a landing page, to ensure Rana could hit the ground running.

Derived from the Latin word for ‘frog’, Rana is a subtle nod to nature, data, and water—perfectly balancing clarity and character in just four letters. To complement the name, we explored numerous logo studies, refining the design until it matched the strength and simplicity of the brand itself. Each iteration was crafted to make sure the visual identity was as impactful and meaningful as the name.
